Scottish Labour rocked by sex scandal as leader leaves wife for man

Scottish Labour leader, Iain Gray is at the centre of a sex scandal today after leaving his wife and children for another man.
Iain Grey, 51 is said to have begun an affair with an interior designer.

Today's revelation prompted accusations that Mr Gray failed to back gay rights votes in parliment, but the Labour Party closed ranks and are refusing to be drawn into a debate over his future and defending his right to keep his domestic arrangements private.

Mr Brown is standing by him and it is understood there is no question of him losing his Scottish leader position.

Speaking outside his £140,000 flat in Edinburgh, Mr Gray said: "It is true that my marriage ended a couple of months ago. That is a sad thing but it happens. I am not commenting on anything else. I am not in a current relationship."
His mother-in-law told of her dismay but hoped that the 14-year marriage could be repaired. She said: "It's sad but it's not really unusual any more. It's modern life isn't it? Men seem to think they can get away with it now..

In the past, Mr Gray voted against four readings of the Adoption and Children Bill - a measure to allow unmarried couples both straight and gay to adopt children. He did not vote on Labour's Bill to lift the ban on councils promoting information about homosexuality.

Fanatical Muslims fund Labour

The Electoral Commission confirmed it is investigating a group called the Muslim Friends of Labour, which gave the party £100,000 a month .

Glasgow-based Imran Khand is alleged to have injected large sums into the organisation. But as his cash did not go direct to Labour, his identity remained secret.
Until recently the organisation donated only small amounts, but it is now the party's second biggest non-union donor.

The Muslim Friends of Labour - registered to a PO box in South London - is an "unincorporated" association, which it means it does not have to identify people who give it money. But the commission is investigating its status amid allegations that it is actually a members' association, made up "wholly or mainly" of members of a political party.

If so, it would be breaking the law by failing to disclose the details of any donor of more than £5,000.

Mr Khand could not be contacted.
It is my duty as your MSP to to be honest and transparent about who funds this great party of mine. G.F,MSP

Roll up Roll up Labour sleaze Roll up come to me come to me

Labour is mired in sex and sleaze on an unprecedented scale .

But, unlike during the John Major years when the media unremittingly homed in on and cruelly isolated each individual minister, the BBC is content to blame the political system. At least that is the inference from Nick Robinson.

It is not ministers or their partners who are immoral, but the inadequate procedure which permits them to claim £20 for pornographic films and 88p for a bath plug. One wonders why Nick Robinson did not apply this impeccable logic to the ‘Tory sleaze’ of John Major’s era, and blame ‘cash for questions’ on the easy availability of brown bags.

Cranmer is a little irritated by a claim against the taxpayer for pornography, but he is rather more irked by the incredible level of pedantic pettiness which is evidenced in an 88p claim for a bath plug. The Home Secretary earns £120,000 per annum plus £116,000 for her ‘second home’ and at least all that again in ‘expenses’. Last year her expenses claim was £33,000 more than that of the Prime Minister. So, she owns two houses, lives with her sister, and purchases sinks, plugs, washing machines, dryers, camp beds... cuddly toy, fondue set. And she also employs her husband as a ‘parliamentary assistant’ at a cost of £40,000 per annum.

And they have the audacity to claim 88p from the taxpayer for a bath plug.

There is something distastefully dishonourable about this sort of small-mindedness which begins to tarnish all politicians. The claim of 88p for a bath plug is every bit as immoral as the pornography. Like all senior government ministers, the Home Secretary has a grace and favour house in Belgravia, of which she has decided not to avail herself because she could not thereby enrich her family. If she were to buy a bath plug for her Belgravia abode, she would be perfectly entitled to reclaim the cost of it from the taxpayer. But, importantly for her, when she ceased being Home Secretary she would not own the plug; the taxpayer would. Her little sordid scam is rather neat, for it has not only enriched her and her husband, but also her sister, with whom she apparently resides in London on more nights than she spends with her husband and children in Redditch.

This is possibly, of course, why he needs the pornography. This episode is not only sleazy: it is squalid, perverse and a gross abuse of the taxpayer at a time of unprecedented financial hardship.

The Home Secretary should be a credible figure on the world stage. In the week of the G20 summit and the coming of the Messiah President Obama, her energies should be focused on issues of communication, security and policing. But she is distracted by pornography and diverted by counting how many nights she has spent at her sister's house. The Prime Minister is not above all this (except, of course, in Nick Robinson’s mind). For he has stated that the pornography viewed by the Jacqui Smith’s husband is ‘a private matter’.

No, Prime Minister, it is not.

Perhaps what he was doing while he was watching the films is a private matter. But the moment an expenses claim was made and Cranmer was expected to pay for it, the ‘matter’ ceased to be private. And it is not sufficient for the Home Secretary to plead ignorance or blame her husband, for she had to sign her claim personally to declare that the expenses were ‘wholly, exclusively and necessarily’ incurred for her duties as an MP.

Perhaps politics and pornography are both egotistically perverse. Politics is arguably more harmful, but pornography is a symptom of a deeper problem. What does it say about the Home Secretary that her husband has to resort to amusing himself with it?

Is she content that he is prepared to support the perception of ‘women as sexual objects’? This would be a little hypocritical, since she has taken a tough stance against the sex industry with a pledge to crack down on ‘lap dancing’ clubs. She appears to assert that she spends more time with her sister than her children. Is she neglecting her family? Does she work such long hours that she is failing in her marital duties to her husband? Or is she withholding her body from him for other reasons?

Do not those who feel the need to watch pornography lead to deep-seated psycho-sexual problems? It has been called ‘the new crack cocaine’, leading to ‘addiction, misogyny, paedophilia, boob jobs and erectile dysfunction’. Pornography addicts ‘have a more difficult time recovering from their addiction than cocaine addicts, since coke users can get the drug out of their system, but pornographic images stay in the brain forever’. It is also asserted that ‘pornography often leads to more harmful sexually addictive behaviour; eg, compulsive masturbation, fantasy, promiscuity, exhibitionism, soliciting prostitutes and rape. It isolates an individual – making him more intent on satisfying selfish needs even at the expense of his marriage, family, financial stability, and career.’

Men who need to indulge in pornography manifest the underlying problem of an addiction to ‘high intensity pleasure’. They have ceased to find deep and meaningful fulfilment in their personal relationships, and have forgotten (if ever they knew) how to experience pleasure from everyday, ordinary-life situations. They are invariably lonely, even if they do not know it. Quality time with the family is neglected; intimate honesty with one’s wife becomes infrequent. This leads inexorably to emotional suppression the inability to be honest.

The Home Secretary ought to resign – in order to ‘spend more time with her family’.

lar de dar de da i says goodbye to a she comrade

My good friend has quit the party, complaining that the leadership had "betrayed" the principles that inspired her to join. Alice Mahon, MP for Halifax between 1987 and 2005, said she also felt "absolutely scandalised" by the Damian McBride affair.

In her letter to myself she said: "This has been a difficult decision to take as I feel I was almost born into the Labour Party.
"However, I can no longer be a member of a party that at the leadership level has betrayed many of the values and principles that inspired me as a teenager to join."

Speaking to Sky News, she said: "I've reached the end of the road with the Labour Party. I've lost faith in the Government and the direction they are taking us in.
"I did hope, as did many party members, that we would get a change of direction if we got a new leadership. Unfortunately I could not have been more wrong."

Labour cant please everyone and what was wrong with the emails we were going to send ?

lar de dar de da a little bit about me

The genial Blair sycophant George Foulkes - Baron Foulkes of Cumnock since Tony elected him a life peer and now one of the henchmen trying to treat Labour's Scottish schizophrenia - was a most promising shadow cabinet minister until he came to suffer "a nasty fall on the slopes of Glenfiddich in July 1993".

At a party held by the Scotch Whisky Association, the defence spokesman at the time, also a magistrate, drank adequately from the fountain of the water of life. One witness described Foulkes's subsequent behaviour as "like Zebedee on acid". The MP trundled back to the Commons for a crunch vote.

Unfortunately, the pavements of Westminster dipped and rose like the deck of a clipper on a choppy sea, tossing him into the arms of pedestrians. An attempt to dance with a 70-year-old lady resulted in them both hugging the asphalt. Foulkes biffed one persistently helpful constable on the chin.

He was arrested and invited to spend the night enjoying Her Majesty's hospitality. He pleaded guilty to assault and being drunk and disorderly, and was fined £1,050. He vowed not to drink whisky again.
So I am delighted to hear of an invitation doing the rounds. In his capacity as president of the Caribbean-Britain Business Council, Foulkes is hosting a party at the House of Lords on 13 March: a "rum punch reception". A Caribbean holiday for two shall be raffled and guests hope Foulkes will lead the calypso. (He is, of course, bringing the punch.) Boing!

Lar de dar de da thats all for now Foulkes.

George Foulkes says.."Sleaze"

The public turfed out the last Tory government because of sleaziness; the "Cash for Questions" row and the failure of some back-bench Tory MPs to declare minor gifts or sources of income was too much for the public to stomach and they opted for a Labour government, ignoring Labour's track record of sleaze in local government.

Eleven years on, the Tories' brand of sleaze looks pretty weedy compared to the wholesale corruption practised by the likes of Mandelson Robinson, Irvine, Vaz, Byers, Jo Moore, Milburn, Hughes, Paul Corrigan, and Blair, Jacqui Smith, Myself (Foulkes) and Brown.

That's the big difference - whereas under the Tories there were undeniably some individual back-bench MPs with dodgy agendas of their own, the Labour government is rotten to the core - the cabinet itself; the then Prime Minister himself. Tony Blair was caught red-handedlying to the House of Commons about the £1m contribution Labour accepted from the motor racing industry. It was a defining moment and would easily have been the end of a less slimy politician's career.

In the old days sleaze was about politicians succumbing to the material temptations placed before them, such as expense accounts and foreign travel, or it involved the personal sexual morality or marital fidelity of politicians. There was little or no direct impact on the general public, but the press and opposition politicians worked themselves into a frenzy about it.
New Labour's New Sleaze works the other way round. It is all about the perversion of democratic government; matters of great importance to the public being cooked up behind closed doors, justified by massaged figures, semi-leaked documents and news management. Alarmingly the press seems to be uninterested, and the filthiest government since Lloyd George looks whiter than white!
And now, finally, after leaving 10 Downing Street, Blair regrets attacking the Tories so hard over allegations of "sleaze" in the final years of John Major's government!
